Greed & Generosity

A prayer in Proverbs 30 requests, "Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, 'Who is the LORD?' or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God." Be honest, would you pray this prayer? Most of us would prefer to ask God to help us win the lottery. Money is a major topic throughout Proverbs, with more advice than we can cover this morning. But, at the center is a call to be content and generous. These two attitudes will put us in a position to receive blessings from God that far outweigh any cash windfall we may incur if we pursue wealth.
