Responsibilities

I serve as the Associate Director of Genesis Kids. From planning family events to scheduling volunteers who serve in Genesis Kids and anything in between that may come up, my main goal and hope is to point our kids to Jesus and encourage their parents in the discipleship of their families.

Family

Scott and I have been married for over 21 years, and we have four adult children. Oh, and let’s not forget the grand-dogs!

Education

A.A. in Literature - St. Louis Community College
B.S. in Christian Ministry - St. Louis Christian College

What Genesis Means To You

Genesis has been a place where I have grown in my faith and love of Jesus, surrounded by a family of believers who love and encourage me.  My family started attending Genesis in 2008, and it was our answer to prayer as we sought a good fit for our family: solid Bible teaching, real and compassionate ministry leaders, and a church body in our neighborhood.

Favorite Scripture

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

Favorite Reads

One of my favorite sayings is, “It’s not hoarding if it’s books.”  I love to read a wide variety of things, from fiction to non-fiction.

A few of my most recent favorites:
Crazy Busy: A (Mercifully) Short Book about a (Really) Big Problem by Kevin DeYoung
Full: Food, Jesus, and the Battle for Satisfaction by Asheritah Ciuciu
Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney
Seeking Refuge: On the Shores of the Global Refugee Crisis by Stephan Bauman
Suffering is Never for Nothing by Elisabeth Elliot
You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity by Francis Chan
You Can Trust God to Write Your Story by Robert and Nancy Wolgemuth

Favorite Movies

I love a good superhero movie or rom-com.

What You Enjoy

I enjoy a good book, a craft project, and vacationing. In this season of life with our kids grown, Scott and I enjoy exploring new-to-us places around the St. Louis area, watching Cardinal baseball, attending festivals, hiking on occasion, and hanging out with friends and family. I also have a heart for the refugees in the St. Louis community and love working with a couple of ministries serving them.

Where You Grew Up and What You Did As A Kid

I grew up in Fenton and am a graduate of Eureka High School.  (Go, Wildcats!) Through elementary and middle school, I played softball and was a Girl Scout.  When I started high school, I’m pretty sure I attended more because of the extracurricular activities I enjoyed than the classes, although I liked both.  My love of writing really blossomed in high school as I served as a writer and editor of the school newspaper.

Hope For Genesis

My hope is for Genesis to be a safe place for someone to wrestle with their faith or lack thereof, while being surrounded by the truth of scripture and people who will love and encourage them.  I also hope for the church to be a place where we are sending each other out to share and live out the gospel in Eureka, surrounding communities, and around the world.
