Family

My wife Terry and I are childhood sweethearts who married in 1978. We have had the privilege of being part of Genesis since before Genesis existed. I retired in 2022, after working at Ameren for 43 years as a communication technician. Terry retired as a special education teacher in 2023.

Our son Benjamin is married to Naomi with 4 wonderful kids. Our son Stephen is married to Kelsey with 3 wonderful kids. They live close and we love our grandchildren time.

What Genesis Means To You

For one of the first times I can say I am exactly where God wants me to be. That is not an easy place to be sometimes, but it is pretty cool most of the time.

Quote

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

My favorite Bible passage is Psalm 23, but especially: “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

What You Enjoy

I enjoy hunting, fishing and all things outdoors. My biggest joy is service to others, and I am good at working with my hands. This has led us to go on mission trips ever since our sons were young. We have loved working in other places, using our abilities and sharing Jesus while we were there.

Where You Grew Up and What You Did As A Kid

I grew up in the inner city of St. Louis. We called ourselves “The River Rats,” because we lived on the south side very close to the river. We played a lot of sandlot football. When I went to Roosevelt High School freshman year and tried out for football, I was all messed up on the rules. I thought two completions was a first down.

Hope For Genesis

To be a place where God is centered in all we are. To make Eureka a better place because Genesis is living the Gospel there. To be a people of peace, giving, and love. To be a place that is called into action when people are in trouble.
