Bio: Carla Moore

Responsibilities

I have worked as the Administrator for Genesis since 2006. I am responsible for managing the day-to-day office tasks of the church and “other duties as assigned” by the Elders. When you hear people referring to “The General” (with love), that’s me!

Family

I am married to David; we met at Ballwin Baptist Church and married there in 1983. We have 2 grown sons: Alex who helps with sound equipment and/or plays bass in the Genesis band; A.J. who is married to Lily—they are the parents of our 3 grandsons, twins Jesse and Charlie, and their little brother, Sam (let me just say grandkids are SO MUCH fun!!).

What Genesis Means To You

We have been a part of Genesis since the very beginning, feeling the call to be part of the adventure as Mike and Heidi and the initial team began the launch process. We still feel that call to be part of God’s work in Eureka. Genesis is our home and our family.

Favorite Scripture

Call to Me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3 (ESV)

Psalm 139, especially v. 16: Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. (ESV)

I love this Psalm because it reminds me nothing surprises God, He has a plan, and even when I don’t understand circumstances, He is in control.

Favorite Reads

I love to read! John Grisham is my favorite fiction author. Other favorite authors include R. C. Sproul, John Piper and David Platt. I participate in a Book Club made up of long-established friends who raised our kids together so we always have lots to catch up on besides discussing the current book.

Favorite Movies

Living in a house of all boys I have watched lots of action films: James Bond, Star Wars, Marvel, etc. I’m ok with almost anything except gore and lots of guts (a little bit of guts can be tolerated). If I’m picking, it’s probably a rom com and always a happy ending.

What You Enjoy

Spending time with the grandsons (happy to show pics anytime), crocheting, playing Candy Crush Soda and Wordle, watching the Cardinals, the Blues, and Alabama Crimson Tide football.

Where You Grew Up and What You Did As A Kid

I grew up in House Springs through eighth grade. My family moved to Colorado for 10 years, so I went to high school there. I moved back to MO in 1982, met David at Ballwin Baptist Church, where we were members when Mike Hubbard came as Youth Pastor when our boys were just entering their teens.

Hope For Genesis

As shared in the core beliefs of Genesis, I want our church to make a difference in the Eureka Community, the greater STL area, nationally and internationally. I want our church family to make all these places better because we lived and shared the Gospel of Jesus and His love.
