Responsibilities

As the Associate Director of Genesis Kids, I work with the Director to partner with parents in nurturing their children’s spiritual development and helping them become engaged disciples of Jesus.

Family

I come from a large family with many kids. My husband Jacob and I met while attending Missouri State University and we have been married since 2009. After many years, Jacob and I were blessed with our daughter Emma.

Education

BSEd - Social Sciences in Education

What Genesis means to you

When we moved to St. Louis, Jacob and I didn’t establish roots right away, as neither of our families lived nearby, and we were often traveling to visit them. Once Jacob’s side of the family moved here, we traveled much less since at least one set of parents was nearby. I was particularly drawn to Genesis for its strong theology and commitment to transparency in its Gospel class. Having moved frequently as a child, I found a true sense of belonging in a church that genuinely values community and is rooted in Scripture. Genesis has become a place of healing and stability that I had never experienced before.

Favorite Movies

It’s hard to name a single favorite, but we’re huge fans of Christopher Nolan and Wes Anderson films. I also love Christmas classics, Pixar films, and 90s romcoms. A few favorites include Interstellar, Shawshank Redemption, Inception, While You Were Sleeping, Christmas Vacation, and Up. Some favorite shows are Succession, The Office, Sherlock (BBC), Downton Abbey, Formula 1, Lost, Ted Lasso, Chernobyl, and Fallout

What you Enjoy

I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places and foods. I love reading, photography, and climbing mountains. I always have a side project going, whether it’s writing or illustrating short stories. I also cherish family time, especially sitting around, eating good food, talking, and playing board games.

Where you grew up and what you did as a kid

I spent the first 16 years of my life growing up in Kansas. My family moved every two years due to my dad’s job opening Walmart stores. Originally from Missouri, we eventually made our way back here, where I graduated from Ozark High School. After graduating, I joined the military to help cover the costs of college and went on to attend Missouri State University. As a kid, I played soccer well into high school and had a deep passion for film and reading. I always had my nose in a book.

Hope for Genesis

My hope for Genesis is that it remains a church dedicated to making disciples. I wish for it to be a place where people feel safe to learn about Christ and are inspired to invite others into his kingdom. I also hope it continues to guide and mentor others in understanding what that journey looks like scripturally.
