Community

Aug 26, 2018 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Focus

Our Community Groups give people the opportunity to wrestle with the Gospel and live in deep relationship with each other. The kick-off to join or re-join a group is in September. When God saves a person, He makes them part of a people---this is the church. The church is not a hierarchy or institution; it has always been a redeemed people. The Gospel forms a people; the Word forms the church. The local church is made up of people who are diverse, but Christ arranges them into His body so that He can dwell within them. This community of believers is marked by humility, love, and unity and is growing up into Christ, who is the head. God uses the beauty of these Christ-shaped relationships to make the Gospel visible to the world. Any version of "church" that is not pushing you toward this type of community is a misunderstanding of the purpose and beauty of the local body and the Gospel itself. So, today we are talking about the importance of community in the church and in our lives.
