Dec 4, 2011 • Mike Hubbard • Series: “The” Story

Everybody loves a good story, and there is no story better than the one we tell again and again at Christmas. The baby in the manger, shepherds, wise men, angels, these are all heart-warming and amazing to us. But this story is actually a part of a much bigger story. The coming of Jesus is the climactic event in the great story of God, the story told throughout the Bible. And like any story, there are plot twists, amazing characters, and a hero. This morning, we are beginning a new series that will take us through the Christmas season, as Mike and Weston preach a series of messages looking at the grand story of the Bible. Each week we will look at the great themes of this story, and show how every page of the Bible has the echo of the baby crying in the manger in the background. Any great story will start big, and the story contained in the Bible is no different. The theme of creation is one of the great ideas in the Bible, as we will see that in creation God is owner, but has also given purpose to every one of his creations.
