Doing Religion Without Being Religious: Fasting

May 31, 2009 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Red Letters

The thought inevitably creeps up about half way through the average church service..."Where are we going to eat lunch?" The mind beings to do an inventory of the restaurants in town, checking of some because they don't sound so good today, while just the thought of others gets the saliva going and the stomach growling. Most of of Americans are world winners when it comes to knowing how to feed the physical appetite. But do we know how to go about filling the hunger and thirst for God and what he alone can do? It's funny that one of the best ways to feed the soul is to neglect the stomach. Today we are going to learn about the idea of fasting and hear Jesus very teaching on this important, but seldom used discipline.
