Thankfulness is one of the primary responses that will arise when we truly understand grace. On the other hand, Paul tells us in Romans 1 that it is the lack of thankfulness that leads people into idolatry and rebellion. When we realize all that has been done for us giving thanks to the Lord should be natural. This Psalm reminds the people that God is the great giver and that His gifts flow from His steadfast love. The song leads the chorus to be thankful for God's grace in creation, in redemption, and in His provision.
