Honor

The idea of exclusivity is pretty repulsive in our culture. Tolerance is the doctrine, and inclusivity is the sacrament in a culture that tends to believe that spirituality is more important than any genuine belief. You've probably heard statements like these: "It doesn't really matter what you believe as long as you are genuine." "All religions believe basically the same thing." Our passage this morning is the beginning of a trial staged by the religious leaders pointed at Jesus. The goal is to convict Him of blasphemy so they can put Jesus to death. Jesus' response to the basic charge against Him is nothing short of scandalous, and we must either accept these claims and trust Christ, or we will eventually find offense and join the trial.
