How Jesus Loves His Bride

Throughout the Bible, the people of God are said to be the bride of Christ. The story from Acts today shows us how important Jesus' bride is and the lengths He will go to bless, protect, and provide for her. The first and third section of this text give us two more snapshots into the community and life of the church, where we see the generosity and care for the needy and the power of the witness and ministry of the church. But, in between, we have this crazy story of a misguided couple who meets their doom. The story seems harsh and out of place, but it really reveals the love of Jesus and the protection of her purity for His glory.
