How to Pray When We Are Threatened

May 1, 2022 • Mike Hubbard • Series: To Be Continued…

May is Prayer Month here at Genesis. OK, let me rephrase that... EVERY month is prayer month, but we as a church have set aside May as a month of intentional focus on the prayer life of our church so that we, like the early church, can be devoted to prayer (Acts 2:42). In His providence, God has us in the perfect passage to kick this off, as we will see the prayer of the early church in Acts 4. If someone threatened your life and the life of those whom you love, how would you pray? The story in Acts brings us to one of the most amazing and challenging prayers in all of Scripture. The Apostles were warned to stop speaking in the name of Jesus and threatened by the most powerful rulers in the city. Instead of praying for safety and protection, they pray for boldness; asking God to empower them and perform miracles. This morning we will learn from the text about the importance of prayer and hear how Genesis seeks to live out our core value of prayer as a faith community.
