I Am a Citizen of Heaven

I've had a few opportunities to travel abroad. I enjoyed the different cultures and experiences. But, no matter how I tried to fit in, it is obvious I was a tourist. Never mind the language and skin color questions, my values and attitudes shout out "American" to anyone from the culture visited. Who I am has been so shaped because of the country of my citizenship which shapes my values and attitudes. If you are a follower of Jesus you are a tourist here. Our true citizenship is in a far away country, and we are ambassadors or representatives of that Kingdom. We will never truly understand our identity until we realize that we can enjoy our time here, but our lives, values, and attitudes should be shaped by our true home.
