I Am a Saint

May 16, 2021 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Identity Theft

So often, our sense of identity is shaped by our failure and guilt, and the effort to find some kind of atonement. People will go to great lengths to feel forgiven and clean. None of us feels like saints. That role is reserved for the super holy people, right? But not me. Yet, one of the most common titles given to followers of Jesus in the New Testament is that we are "Saints". No, you don't have to perform postmortem miracles to prove that you have sufficient merits. In fact, the truth is that you do not have sufficient merit to take on this title. Yet, because of what Christ has done for us and the reality that redemption gives us a whole new identity, we can find great joy in the reality that we are a holy new people for God's possession.
