Joy in Fellowship

Oct 14, 2018 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Letter from a Roman Jail

One of the basic truths we discover in the Bible is that our vertical relationship with God will affect our horizontal relationships with others, and that broken horizontal relationships are an indicator of a problem with the vertical. Therefore, a church that has been rescued by the Gospel should be a people who are marked by their humility and compassion for each other. Paul calls the Philippian church to the type of relationship that we all long for; yet, none of us wants to put in the work of laying aside our rights and thinking of others as better than ourselves, in order to achieve it. We need Jesus to be our model, and like He did, we need to lay aside our rights to love one another.
