Joy in Prayer and Partnership

Sep 16, 2018 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Letter from a Roman Jail

"Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" While these may be the unalienable rights the Declaration of Independence seems to guarantee, the truth is that many are pursuing happiness, but never quite finding it. We think happiness is the goal of life, but we seem to be getting less and less happy. Maybe the reason we struggle to find joy in our lives is that we believe it is an individual pursuit. Philippians is a letter from a guy named Paul, written to believers in Jesus, living in the city of Philippi. He starts his letter giving thanks for this church with joy; this guy in prison is full of joy! Today we'll discover that a big reason for Paul's joy is partnership. Paul points out that there is something that happens in community that cannot be accomplished when we seek to find fulfillment by ourselves. The first step is to realize that there is great joy in rich Gospel partnership that leads to deep affection for each other.
