Knowing the Uknowable Love of God

Apr 8, 2012 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Becoming Who You Are

Welcome to our celebration of Easter, the day to remember the most important event in history as Jesus Christ rose again from the grave. The story of the death and resurrection of Jesus is so full of meaning, and has so much to say to us. But one aspect of this story that we must remember is that in this event God has declared his love in a way that cannot be ignored. As human beings, we were created for relationships and we crave love. Deep in our souls, we have a desire to have someone who will pursue us, accept us as we are, sacrifice for us, and change us by their compassion. The Beatles told us that “All we need is love,” and another 60’s recording artist sang, “What the world needs now is love sweet love.” As an idea or concept, love is something we strive after, and something we long for. But love, by definition, is more than the idea of a gushy feeling. Love is personal, and we need so much more than the idea of love. We need Someone to love us, unconditionally and redemptively. Easter is God’s declaration, forever settling it for us, we are loved. And this love is really all we need!
