Lazarus is Dead

May 28, 2017 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Believe

John 11 contains the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. As we start reading, we may know where this story ends, but Jesus' initial response is confusing. He loves Lazarus so He let him die. And then waited four days. Everyone in the story recognized that Jesus had the power to keep this horrible thing from happening. So why didn't he respond quicker? Of course, we know the answer. But, for those living this story, it was a mystery and a point of frustration. This is good for us to hear. We pray, and we think we know what is best. If God truly loved us, we think, He would act, He would take away the sickness, and deal with our struggle. The first half of the story begs the question for us, is Jesus enough?
