Let Us Go To The House Of The Lord

"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord!'" I remember my parents quoting this almost every Sunday as my sister and I were fighting in the car on the way to church. Psalm 122 is a Psalm of joy anticipating the experience of entering Jerusalem with the people of God. This song for the journey remembered the ultimate destination, Jerusalem, and the goal---to gather with God's people in His presence to worship. They sang this song to remind themselves that it was a privilege to be chosen by God and included in His glorious purpose. The greatest joy in life happens in knowing God and worshiping Him.
