Living As Citizens

Religion and politics, two things we shouldn't talk about. And today we are doing a sermon on religion and politics. Ought to make for some fun talk. One of the knocks on the American church is that we are too political. But it can also be a problem when Christians disengage from the politics of our world. In this section of his letter Peter focuses on how those who follow Jesus live as exiles and aliens in this world. And his first topic for them is how they relate to Emperor Nero. What we will find is that we should honor our leaders, but live as subjects of a different King.
