Living With Persecution - Part 2

There are times when being a follower of Jesus is difficult. It is one thing to believe in Christ when all is well, but what about the times when following Jesus is costly? How can we endure and keep believing? C. S. Lewis said, "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." He is expressing the idea that trust in Jesus gives clarity and understanding to everything else in life. In his letter, Peter shares similar idea to those experiencing persecution. He tells them to sanctify Christ the Lord as holy. This is a sort of reference point that defines everything else in our lives and brings it into focus. It will be this very fixed point that gives us the grace to endure with our faith intact.
