Misunderstanding Jesus

Imagine the most important event in all of human history happening in your town, and it was even requested to hold it in your establishment, but rather than opening your doors you get busy and completely miss it. The inn in Bethlehem could have forever been known as the birthplace of the Messiah, but there was no room, so Mary and Joseph found another place and Jesus was born among the animals. But they are not the only people in the story of Jesus who come face to face with Jesus but who completely miss him and his mission. One of the ways we do this is by creating a designer Jesus in our minds, a Messiah of our own making who fits our desires. We do this rather than seeing the true Jesus and bowing our knee to him.
