The time has come for our nation to elect our leaders. This is an incredibly important task, and we should enter polls as a God-given stewardship. Yet, in the end, hope for our nation and city will not come with a leader who is lifted up. In a late-night meeting with a religious and political leader, Jesus reminds him, and us, that there is a greater Kingdom, and entrance into that Kingdom does not come through political power, but by a new birth. This is something only God can do, but the way people find this Kingdom is through the lifting up of the Son of Man, a reference to the cross. The church's mission and the world's hope lies not in the outcome of the election, but in us making Christ known.
