Politics

Jul 1, 2018 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Top Ten 2018

It has been said that there are two things you should never talk about with a crowd of people: religion and politics. Well, today we are going to talk of both. For the fourth sermon in our Top 10 Series, we will answer this question: How do we engage in politics while still being Biblical? To find our answer, we will look at a story from the Old Testament involving two kings, 400 prophets, and one guy who was willing to engage in politics, knowing that God is the only True King. For those who know Christ, our posture in politics should be as people who have trusted in Christ as King and speak for Him with a prophetic voice. We will learn that the Kingdom of Christ will eventually push against all human political parties and human kingdoms, so we should do our politics with humility, grace, and allegiance to a better Kingdom. And we will discover that the greatest political witness we have is a diverse, Jesus-loving church, made up of people who might disagree about politics, but who love one another deeply.
