Sacrificial Giving and the Hedonic Treadmill

Oct 10, 2010 • Weston Ely • Series: Guest Speaker

Our teaching pastor, Mike Hubbard, and his family have taken a weekend off, so Weston Ely will be preaching. Weston is part of Genesis and a student at Covenant Seminary. Over the past few weeks we have been looking at one of Jesus' stories, the parable of the soils. Last week we talked about soil with thorns, which Jesus compared to the person who hears the Gospel, but it never bears fruit because there are so many things competing for our loyalty and trust. Jesus listed the deceitfulness of riches as one of the thorns that keep us from experiencing the Gospel fully. This morning Weston is going to expand on this theme in his message, Sacrificial Giving and the Hedonic Treadmill, as he leads us to look at a story about a woman who did not have much, but her gift was abundantly more than the rest of the people at church.
