Scrooged:The Ghost of Christmas Present

Dec 15, 2008 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Scrooged

Have you ever noticed that almost every Christmas movie and story has, at its heart, the story of redemption? The Grinch, Scrooge, The Santa Clause movie, Charlie Brown; all of these tell the story of someone who did not quite get the meaning of Christmas. Then something or someone reaches into their lives and reorients the way they see the world, and Christmas. The result, in almost every case, is the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. This is the message of The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol. Our suggestion is that at the heart of all these stories is the reality of our need for Jesus to be the one who brings restoration to our lives, and then uses us to provide hope and joy to the broken world around us.
