Such Were Some of You

Feb 9, 2020 • Mike Hubbard • Series: DysFunctional Grace

The Gospel is so much more than a ticket to heaven. When a person truly believes the Gospel, it gives them a new identity. We are people who have been washed, set apart as holy, and justified in Christ. How tragic it is when people with this new identity fall back into patterns of life set by the world around them. The world without Christ will not inherit the Kingdom of Christ, and they will base their identity on values and behaviors that reject the righteousness of Christ. We all were there at one point, but if we have Christ, we are not those people anymore! One way the Corinthians revealed that they did not understand this new identity was by suing each other, demonstrating hearts of greed. They dealt with their disputes and arguments just like the culture around them. The plea here is so helpful as we figure out how to live our new identity in Christ and serve as reflections of His glory in our world.
