The Authority of the Bible

Jan 26, 2014 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Grow

As Americans, we really don't like the idea of authority. As individualists, nobody tells us what to do. So, as we read our Bibles like any other book with ideas and instructions. We read with a critical eye determining if we agree with the ideas and want to do what it instructs. But, what place should the Bible hold as we determine how to live our lives? That answer will come with our belief about the nature and source of the Bible. If the Bible is a good book written by men about God, the then authority lies with the human author, and no more. But, Peter will tell us that the true source of this great books is something much greater, and with the author comes His authority.
