I don't know if Paul had a life verse, but he spoke words that were recorded by Dr. Luke in Acts 20 that have become the favorite of many people. Simply put, Paul states his desire to run his race well, to cross the finish line faithfully, and to complete the ministry God has given him. For those of us who follow Jesus, life is a race to be run with our eyes on the finish line in hopes of a prize. There is another passage from the pen of Paul coming much later when he is nearing the end of life. In 2 Timothy, Paul testifies that he is close to the finish line and gives thanks that he has remained faithful in the race and he can see the prize. These two texts reveal the life mission of this great missionary and Paul helps us find our life purpose as well---to run the race faithfully with endurance until we, too, reach the finish line.
