The God Who Speaks

Jan 6, 2013 • Mike Hubbard • Series: One Story. One Hero. One Mission.

Most of us learned from kids stories like Aesop's Fables where we learn about characters in life situations. As the stories unfold, characters make decisions and the reader is challenged to discover the "moral of the story". We don't worry about whether or not the story is true, the moral teaches us truth about ourselves and the world we live in. Way too often people have been taught to read the Bible in the same way, to read stories as random stories with heroes who teach a moral. Whether the story is true or not is not important, they say. But maybe this is not the purpose of the stories in the Bible. As we begin a new series on the big story and small stories of the Old Testament, today we will learn how Jesus read these stories, and discover the true hero of every story.
