Jesus spent three years with His disciples, twelve men with whom He did all of His ministry. They’d heard Jesus teach, saw Him perform all of the miracles, and spent time with Him as a friend. Now this band of brothers is sharing the Passover meal and Jesus drops a bomb. He told them that He was going to be leaving them; predicting His own death and resurrection. What was supposed to be a joyous evening has turned tragically dark. But then Jesus makes a confusing statement to them, it is better that I leave. How could this be? The answer is that by dying, rising again, and ascending to His throne, Jesus will give the gift of the Holy Spirit. This gift will mean everything to these people as they live between the time of Jesus’ departure and return. And, the Holy Spirit means everything to us as well. Today we will talk about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and seek to pursue His fullness together.
