The People of God

Jan 8, 2012 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Church 101

The alarm went off this morning, you went and got your cup of coffee, threw your clothes on. Maybe your kids woke up and added to the craziness, and it may be that for a moment you thought it might be easier to stay at home. But you decided to come to church today. Of course, at Genesis that whole idea is a bit different. For many, going to church carries the image of a building, with pews, maybe a pulpit, or a large altar. But is "church" really a place that you go to? Maybe we should stop talking about "going to church" and thinking about what it means to be the church. Today we are starting a new short series that will run through the rest of this month on the idea of church, and specifically the mission, values, and vision of Genesis Church. At the core, the church is not a building, or an organization, it is a people, a community of faith doing life and mission together. This morning we hope to show you why the church is important for you, but also why you are so important for the church.
