The Perils and Joys of Planting Churches

Oct 9, 2022 • Mike Hubbard • Series: To Be Continued…

At Genesis, we love church planting and consider the planting of new churches a significant aspect of our mission. Church planting is not easy and often the cost can be great. Yet, it is the single most effective way to reach people and their cities with the Gospel. So far in Acts, the story of Paul's missionary efforts has been the story of Gospel proclamation and church planting. The story now has Paul coming to the city of Corinth. Corinth is a different and difficult place; an immoral city that was one of the most important seaports in the ancient world. Yet it is here that the Spirit tells Paul to remain as the church planter for a longer season. The new believers in Corinth have all sorts of challenges and struggles as they grow as disciples of Jesus, but the church became a counter culture representing Jesus to the culture in this city. Our desire is to see this story repeated often, especially in hard to reach places in our city and around the world.
