The Power of God

Jan 15, 2012 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Church 101

"You shall receive power…" These are the words of Jesus to His followers in Acts chapter 1. What a promise, power. We need power in our lives. We feel powerless against the world around us, the evil and suffering in our lives, and our own habits and sin. We get into ruts and it seems that the power Jesus promised is nothing more than a pipe dream. But the stories of the Bible show people who are full of power and God works through them to change lives, do miracles, accomplish the amazing. The book of Acts tells the story of the Holy Spirit empowering His people to accomplish His mission. In the second sermon on the church we will take a look at how God provides the power of God for his church and the things He will accomplish through a people who are submitted to and empowered by Him.
