The Unseen Hand

Mar 10, 2013 • Mike Hubbard • Series: One Story. One Hero. One Mission.

I remember getting frustrated at a movie made by a Christian ministry a few years ago. The quality of the movie was actually pretty good, with a decent story. The problem that frustrated me was that the main character had a series of significant life issues that had arisen, things that actually happen in real life. His marriage was shaky, job was struggling, he wasn't meeting bills, and he could not find fulfillment. Then he had a religious experience where he became a Christian. In the rest of the movie every problem that he had was not only solved, but in ways that were beyond belief. Not saying that doesn't happen, but that is not reality. Truth is, the decision to become a follower of Jesus and live with integrity might make life more difficult and give you more answers. Joseph's life in the book of Genesis is proof of that. Yet in his story we learn the beauty of the unseen hand of God's providence, and we will discover that He is working things for His glory and our good, even when we don't see it.
