Oct 3, 2010 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Dirt

Doesn’t matter what you grow, pesky weeds and plants with thorns threaten to choke out the good stuff. People plant good seed with high hopes that their plants will be healthy and productive. But there is always another presence in the soil vying for space and nutrients. Farmers spend thousands of dollars and hours of their time spraying fields hoping to keep weeds and thorns out of the fields. We buy all kinds of products of our lawns to do the same thing. But are we working as diligently to keep the thorns and weeds out of the dirt of our lives. In Jesus’ Parable of the Soils, the fourth type of dirt is soil with thorns. Sadly, this soil is representative of a large segment of American Christianity.
