Truth

Feb 11, 2018 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Believe

It was not just the trial of the century or of the millennia---it was the trial of all-time. Jesus, the Son of God and True King, was brought before Pilate, the governor representing the Roman Empire ruling over Judea. All human hopes for redemption rest on this trial; yet, the trial itself is the greatest act of injustice ever perpetrated, as Jesus is the only truly innocent man that ever lived. While Pilate believes he is standing over Jesus as judge, the truth is that Jesus actually stands over him. An important question arises from the lips of Pilate, "What is truth?" The personification of truth is standing in front of Pilate, but rather than listening for an answer, he walks away and rejects the truth. So, the question lingers for us. How we answer the question will define the way we relate to God, ourselves, and the world around us.
