In any battle, one of the key challenges is to know the enemy. While the Bible does present the Christian life as a war, way too often, we tend to believe that the battle lines are between believers in Jesus and other people in the world. This chapter gives us a glimpse into the mysterious world of angels and demons, and the reality that there is an unseen world around us that really does involve a war. The passage reminds us that the actual battle is not against flesh and blood, and that our job is to stand against the wiles of the devil and have the full armor of God in place. We will take a look at the Biblical doctrine of the spiritual world and spiritual warfare in this sermon, and be reminded that the real battle happens on our knees.
