War

Aug 26, 2012 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Becoming Who You Are

The day of infamy, December 7, 1941. On that day soldiers and sailors in Pearl Harbor began their day like any other day, going through the military routines. But, they believed it was peace-time. Yes, there was a vicious war raging in Europe, but Americans believed they could remain detached from the battle. And there were growing threats from Japan in the east, but those were largely ignored. And then the planes showed up, everything changed. Paul ends his letter to the Ephesians with a stern warning, the spiritual life is a war. This war has a real enemy who wants to destroy you and a mission to accomplish. For many of us though, we live much like the soldiers at Peal Harbor in the morning hours before the attack, not ready at all for the battle.
