Warned

Sometimes the most loving thing one can do is to warn and the most positive thing a person can do is be negative. At first glance, this may be hard to believe, but think about the warning label on a pack of cigarettes, the importance of a tornado siren, or a driver training video for sixteen-year-olds. First look, these things are harsh, but the warning is actually an act of love and grace helping the one being warned of dangers that can be significant. 2 Peter 2 may seem harsh, but Peter is loving us, warning of a very real danger that can lead to a much worse outcome than a storm. And we are reminded that for God's people, hard words can produce soft people while soft words can produce hard people.
