What Did Jesus Accomplish On The Cross? - He Is My New Covenant Sacrifice

Oct 2, 2011 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Follow the Leader

British author G. K. Chesterton was asked to submit an essay to a London newspaper in response to the question, "What is wrong with the world?" Rather than submitting a lengthy treaties on the subject, he sent in a simple piece of paper with a four line answer. "Dear Sirs, I am. Sincerely yours, G. K. Chesterton." One of the major themes found in the Bible is that of sacrifice. From the story of the first two people in the Bible, the death of animals is tied to the sin of people. It seems kind of strange, that God would command sacrifices as a way to gain atonement and forgiveness of sin. But this theme is always teaching us something important, that the problem of our sin is deep, and the solution is costly. Today we will look at our core problem as people and discover that through his death on the cross, Jesus is our new covenant sacrifice.
