When To Turn the Other Cheek

Sep 5, 2010 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Top Ten List

Human relationships are difficult, but the struggle increases when someone close to us becomes cruel, abusive, or overbearing. As possible topics were submitted for our Top 10 List series, the top voted question was, "How do I find the balance between turning the other cheek, loving others, but not being taken advantage of?" As Jesus taught on this subject, he told his followers that there is a connection between our understanding of how God changes and forgives and our willingness to love others. The consistent call of Scripture to followers of Jesus is to demonstrate mercy and grace to those who treat us badly. But there are times when the best way of doing this is to move away from the relationship.
