Who Do You Say That I Am?

Apr 24, 2011 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Follow the Leader

You ever have one of those awkward moments when you run in to someone that you know, but you cannot remember how and you totally forget their name? They know you and call you by name, but you are scrambling trying to recall information about the person, hoping either for Divine revelation or a way out. Getting the identity of an old acquaintance wrong can be embarrassing, but getting the true identity of Jesus wrong, well that is another issue. In Mark 8, Jesus asks his disciples about his identity, "Who do you say that I am?" The Easter story always confronts us with this question, and our answer will determine the trajectory of our life. Is Jesus a good man, a prophet, one who speaks for God? Or is He more? Our prayer today is that you will come to the place where you know Jesus and can answer this question personally the way the Apostle Peter does when these twelve men are confronted.
