Who Sinned?

This morning we will be introduced to a man who was born blind. The disciples, functioning from a world view that bad things happen to bad people (Karma), ask who was responsible for this man's suffering--did his parents sin or was it his own? Jesus' response is paradigm changing, his suffering was to display the works of God. Then, as an act of grace, Jesus heals the man in a really bizarre way. The story is so helpful for us, because it gives us a framework to escape the Karma worldview that all religions hold in some way, and to recognize that my hardships and suffering all find their purpose in a greater glory. And, God will give grace.
