"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." These words succinctly explain what makes Christianity radically different from any other religion or approach to spirituality. The statement is simple, Jesus is God with us. We sing about this every Christmas. But, the implications are rich and deep, beyond our comprehension. God did not wait for us to come to Him, He came to us, literally pitched his tent among us. John wants us to behold Jesus, and in the face of Jesus we will see the One who is full of glory, grace, and truth.
