Worship & Sunday Morning

Oct 21, 2012 • Mike Hubbard • Series: Above All

If you grew up in church, you might resonate with this story. Many of us wore a suit and tie, or our best dress, every Sunday as we were brought to church. Each week, we were told that what we wear is an indication that we are giving God our best on Sunday. And, for many of us, we had a difficult time seeing a connection between something tied around our neck—that way too resembled a noose—and our love for God. Now, church is casual, come-as-you-are, which can be a very good thing. But, sometimes, going casual in dress can be accompanied by going casual in our values and attitudes toward Sunday worship. This morning we will look at a passage from Malachi where God addresses His people as they come to worship, and we will see that giving God less than our best in our worship is not a good thing.
